Since 2001, Joanne Hinkel has been freelance writing about art, food, and urban culture for print and online publications. She has written for The Boston Phoenix, F Newsmagazine, UR Chicago, Chicago Artists' News,  CenterstageChicago.com, Film.com, Venus Zine, RollingStone.com, UnderTheMicroscope.com, and White Hot Magazine. 

Currently, Joanne lives in New York City where she is the Copy Editor for TheFrisky.com, a Turner Media site for women full of relationship, style, sex and love advice; she also continues to write as a freelancers for various online publications.

In 2003 Joanne earned a M.A. in Modern Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

With this advanced knowledge of modern and contemporary art and her communications' expertise, Joanne has worked as a PR agent and communications consultant for select artists and galleries.
