Since 2001, Joanne Hinkel has been freelance writing about art, food, and urban culture for print and online publications. She has written for The Boston Phoenix, F Newsmagazine, UR Chicago, Chicago Artists' News,  CenterstageChicago.com, Film.com, Venus Zine, RollingStone.com, UnderTheMicroscope.com, White Hot Magazine, and more. 

Currently, Joanne lives in New York City where she continues to freelance write as well as copy edit for  TheFrisky.com, a Turner Media website for women full of relationship, style, sex and love advice.
