Since 2001 Joanne Hinkel has been freelance writing about art, food, and urban culture for print and online publications. She has written for The Boston Phoenix, F Newsmagazine, UR Chicago, Chicago Artists' News,  CenterstageChicago.com, Film.com, VenusZine.com, and RollingStone.com. 

Currently, Joanne lives in New York City where she is a Copy Editor for Film.com and the Online Editor for UnderTheMicroscope.com, a website for young women scientists, as well as a freelance publicist for select artists.

In 2003 Joanne earned a M.A. in Modern Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

With this advanced knowledge of modern and contemporary art and her communications' expertise, Joanne has worked as a PR agent and communications consultant for select artists and galleries.
